What is Advocacy

Advocacy is...

  • Educating others
  • Speaking up for yourself
  • Speaking up/helping for others
  • Lobbying elected officials regarding legislation
  • Lobbying appointed officials or government employees regarding regulations, policies, and so forth
  • Mobilizing people and/or organizations around an issue

We advocate because...

  • Elected and appointed officials too often do not listen to the voices of children.
  • Children and youth have rights that must be honored.
  • Children and youth deserve to have government programs work in their best interest.
